Life is funny how it works. Also, these pictures have nothing to do with this post.
This weekend was a little crazy.
Friday I met up with two of my favorite people who were kind enough to let me be their doula and take part in their birth. We all served together as Peace Corps Volunteers in Cambodia. After being with them a good portion of the day we all decided to try and get some sleep and hopefully labor would keep progressing.
The next morning Hal found out his grandmother passed away.
I then met up with the couple again and participated in their wonderful fully natural birth. It was my 5th birth and my final one to be able to finally certify as a doula.
One life enters the world as another exits.
Things don't always happen at convenient times. Things don't always go according to plan.
But I guess that's the point of life, how we handle those unexpected moments.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss for you and ya'll's family. That is such an interesting little fact about life--about 20 years ago now my Mom was 8 months pregnant with my little brother when she found my great-grandpa passed away--that's really how life happens.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear about his loss.
Yay for finally reaching your final birth so you can get certified. Congratulations!!
And I'm so sorry for Hal's loss. Life is certainly funny sometimes.
