3 days, 30+ hours of driving, over 2,000 miles and 8 states and we finally made it to Maryland!
We didn't make it in our planned 2 days, but honestly I'm so glad we did it in 3 days and didn't push ourselves.
August first we packed up our car and headed out across the US, and here's a mini photo diary of our journey.

We stopped for the night in Lincoln, Nebraksa, as this crazy storm put is far behind and had left us exhausted after an hour of white knuckle driving.
We stopped at Penny's Noodle Shop in Chicago, and it's well worth the stop. We got to see all of the city lights come on as we saw a great lake for the first time. It was fantabulous.
Indiana and Ohio are both full of tolls! How can the interstate be a toll road? Doesn't that seem un-American? We stopped for the night just outside of where Notre Dame is in Indiana.
And we made it all the way to Maryland with some daylight still left!
And we finally made it into DC!

Yay!! Man, that was a LOT of states to cross all at once!
Woohoo!!! I'm so glad you made it safely!!! How long are you going to be in DC again? Nate and I are planning a trip there next May and it'd be so fun to meet you if you were still there. :-)

Yeah we totally hit a crazy storm while going through Nebraska, too. Must be that state's form of a welcome or something :)
Girl, I know how exhausting those cross country drives can be! Glad you made it and it sounds like you had some fun too!
You just added a lot of states to your list! We love cross country road trips. I hope y'all have the time, on the way back, to make lots of fun stops.
