Wedding Wednesday - The Cake

Sorry if things get a little weird around here in the next few weeks. Today is one month until Hal and I move to Cambodia with the Peace Corps. Ahhh..

Ok, that;s a whole different post, today is Wednesday, so today is all about my wedding!

1. how it all began: how you met, first date, first kiss, how long did you date? first picture together.....etc.
2. when you knew he was the one: self explanatory.. but how and when did you know?
3. proposal: how it happened, how long were you engaged for? was it a total surprise?  pictures of that... etc.
4. the ring:  tell us about it! did you pick it out? did he? pictures! tell us about his ring too!
5. engagement/bridal pictures: let's see em!
6. the colors: show some of the flower and colors you used
7. the dress: was it what you always imagined? did you have it made for you? white or ivory?
8. the little accessories: you know, veil? shoes? jewelry? what did your bridesmaids wear?
9. the reception: where was it at? show us some pictures! what day did you get married?
10. the cake/food: i love food. so tell me about what you had at your wedding!
11. your song and/or the first song you danced to at your wedding: share a music video or lyrics if you can!
12. favorite part of the day and least favorite part of the day: can be anything.
13. honeymoon: where did you go? was it good?  ;) haha...jk.
14. thoughts on marriage: what is the easiest/hardest part? if you could change anything, what would it be?
15. first place that you lived together: pics if you have them!
16. kids: do you have any yet? if not, when do you plan on it? how many do you want? any tips on good/bad birth control?
17. most recent picture of you and your significant other and what you love most about them :) and any other thoughts.

Today is all about my cake and food. Honestly, this is probably the most boring part of my wedding. We've only become foodies within the last year or so, so we didn't really care what we served for our wedding. Since we had so many people invited and most weddings in Utah are pretty informal we decided not to serve dinner, and just do a dessert instead.  And what's one of my favorite desserts? CHEESECAKE! This is the only picture I have of our cheesecake bar that we did. We had a bunch of different toppings set out so you could decorate as you please.
And on to my cake. See, I told you this would be the not as exciting as the other posts. If I could re-do my wedding, this is the first thing I would change. I had a friend of a friend do my cake. I had seen some of his work, and it was awesome, but apparently this awesomeness did not transfer over to my cake. He decorated it awesome, it was exactly what I wanted, but...it was a little bit lumpy. But what matters the most about cake? That it tastes good! I don't remember if it tasted good. It was a white cake with raspberry filling. Hal and I only got the one bite, when we cut our cake. No one thought to save our cake or our cheesecake leftovers for us. I hope the cheesecake and the cake was delicious, I guess someone who was there will have to let me know!

No we didn't shove it in each other's faces. It was actually something that we had never talked about. But I'm glad we didn't When you've spent that much money and time on your dress, hair, and makeup, why would you want to ruin it with cake?

I'm sorry it came out lump - I'm sure nobody knew though :) And I agree with the cake in the face, I wouldn't want that hehe!

I agree on the no-smashing policy. My mom actually threatened us both before the reception that we'd better not do that...she threatened Matt a lot while we were engaged, lol :)

How exciting that you're moving out of the country. I'm sure it's stressful but you will be so happy you did it! How funny that you know Kelsey. I just met her this weekend!

but that lumpy cake thing you were talking about..? i had the SAME problem. my aunt makes BEAUTIFUL wedding cakes, so i asked her to do mine, and it apparently didnt get the beautiful memo.
and i dont remember if it was good either.
but i'm not worried :) it was all beautiful anyway.
