Pumpkin Baby

Here in Utah today is being celebrated as Halloween. One of my favorite parts of Halloween is to see my nieces and nephews all dressed up. Since we're down to one laptop it may be a little bit before I can post the pictures from Halloween, so I'll keep it a surprise as to what I'm being, I'll just say that it's not Lucille from Arrested Development.

But since it's Halloween today to all of us I thought I would share a little nugget with you. When we carved pumpkins a bit ago I decided to have a bit of fun with the pumpkins

hahaha! I don't know why I thought this was so funny. The stem of the pumpkin stuck out so I tried to cover it, it made it look like my belly button had popped, to be real big. Then it got even better becasue I started dancing with my pumpkin belly, 'cause you know, you have to keep things light, even when you're pregger with a pumpkin.

Check that out! oh yeah! Hot pumpkin baby mama, right there. hehe, looking at these pictures again, you can totally see my chapstick in my pocket. You can't beat burts bees! A few minutes later I gav birth to a half green pumpkin when He-sam arrived to carve it. It was like the whole Elphaba thing all over again. haha j/k. Good to know I can wear this sweatshirt one day when I'm for real preggers!

Halloween Spirit

I'm trying to get into the Halloween spirit. For some reason this year I'm kind of just not feeling it. Normally Halloween is my favorite holiday, but I can't seem to get as excited as I normally am for Halloween. I mean, Halloween is Sunday and I still don't even have a costume. I wore my awesome halloween shirt that has a ghost on it to a party and called it good. that's sad, coming from the girl who painted herself green one year to be Elphaba from wicked.

Where is that girl now? Costumeless since Hal said he didn't want to do arrested development. Boo on him. Do you guys have any good last minute costume ideas? Maybe I'll frizz up my hair and be Hermione. I have a striped scarf...I don't have a robe. maybe I could do their sweater and white shirt with a tie look or something. Any better ideas than that?

I've been trying to get myself into the Halloween spirit. I decorated my dad's house. And it even finally turned fall...and possibly a little bit of winter. Utah is so funny, we went from 70 and sunny to 30 and snow in like 2 days. I love all of the wet leaves on the ground though, and that I got to wear my rain boots. Boo yeah!  And we also went to a farm and picked out pumpkins and carved them. I wasn't too inventive with my pumpkin
Hal always does crazy things with his pumpkins. I'm kind of bummed that I lost of the picture of his pumpkin from last year because it was so crazy. I have it on my old phone and thought I uploaded it when I switched to my new phones, but I can't seem to find it. Here is his pumpkin from this year.
Hopefully the snow helped preserve them until Sunday. I need to go get my one new Halloween decoration. Every year I get one new Halloween decoration. it's a tradition my mom started with me, and I've tried to continue it.
Hopefully you're already in the Halloween mood, if not, here's an awesome commercial to help get you there.

Curly or straight

I wanted to plan a fancy dinner. So I did. I was bummed when most couples canceled, but we ended up going on a double date. I got a good recommendation for a restaurant called the Bombay House. I wanted a good opportunity to wear my awesome dress from anthropologie again before it got too cold to wear it. I also wanted an excuse to do something fancy with my hair. I decided to straighten it. My hair hasn't been straightened since before we got married. I knew it had been this long because I had accidentally left my straightener at my parent's house, and thus obviously hadn't used it. So I made Hal play photographer and take pictures to make the oh so momentous occasion.

If you ever are in Salt Lake you should definitely eat at the Bombay House. Best indian food I've ever had. Man, it was so good, and the guys who work there had the sweetest beards I've ever seen. Lets see we got theLamb Coconut Kurma, the Bollywood Chicken, and the Chicken Makhani. I would recommend them all. It was great that we just ordered three dishes, some naan and some mango lassi's and all shared, and there was plenty of left overs too! Seriously, if you live in Utah, or are going to visit at some point, you should definitely stop by the Bombay House. Sooo good!

So what do you think? Curly or straight? Which do you like better?

I'm Ready For Fall/ Halloween

Are you guys ready for fall? I know fall has already hit some places, and for those places I'm just a little bit jealous. We haven't really had fall hit here yet. It's been pretty much right around 70 for quite a while. Now don't get me wrong, this is such nice weather, but it would be nice to kind of have some sort of fall weather since Halloween is coming up soon. At least the leaves are finally starting to change over here. Maybe I'll try and take some pictures of it like I did while I was in Park City. but until then here are some inspirational fall pictures just in case you haven't had much of fall going on in your area.

Does anyone else really want those awesome tights from that last picture? Does anyone else want to go to their local pumpkin patch and actually pick a pumpkin. There is a patch not too far from me that we might go to. I love carving pumpkins. Have any of you carved pumpkins yet? You should post pictures if you have! Has fall hit anywhere? Someone give me some hope that the leaves are coming down! Maybe that will help me get in the Halloween spirit. I was thinking about doing an Arrested Development party, but I've kind of been lazy and haven't done pretty much anything other than just think about it. Sigh...I might still go as Lucille, what do you think?

Ok, side note, is it not hard to take a picture of yourself while winking? My sister and I had this discussion the other day. It's so hard. The picture I tried to take and sent to her is pretty horrific. Maybe that's prime for playing Lucille, eh?
5 points to who can name the best Lucille winking scene in all of Arrested Development.
Times up!
It's from Episode 17 from season 2. I tried to find a video of it, but apparently youtube people don't like it as much as I do.
Narrator: Lucille was suffering from a hangover-related headache and sought her medication. That's when she mistook the red eye alcohol warning for a winking-eye alcohol suggestion. But she had the good sense not to drive herself to the meeting.
Lucille: I'll call for a car.
Narrator: [shows the car on fire] Unfortunately, this was after a failed attempt to do so.

A Nice pant suit, a short wig, some big jewlery, a martini glass and I'm set!

Hal says no one will know who I am, what do you think?

Shots is the name of the game

Alright, I know no one likes to get shots. No one likes to have a needle stuck in them and a weak version of a disease injected into them for pleasure. Well, someone might, and if you do then...there might be a cause for concern.

On Friday I had to get a polio booster. I was fine for a few hours, and then my arm felt like somebody slugged me real hard. Yesterday I had to go back into get a tetanus shot because they were out on Friday. Man, I am glad I didn't get them both at the same time, because now it feels like somebody punched me really hard in the other arm. This time it's my dominant arm so it's much more noticeable. BOO.

Most people know tetanus shots hurt, right, but polio? I wasn't expecting that. I'd say on the scale of shots that hurt polio are the same as tetanus. When you're a kid they don't give it to you in a shot form anymore, they do drops. So why do they give shots to adults for the booster?

I created a scale for you, so you can see the level of hurtness in a shot.

There, now you can understand how much my arm currently hurts, and you can look forward to getting any of these shots in the future. At least there won't be any pretense of oh, it doesn't hurt that bad, because I'm telling you, it does. It does hurt that bad. It hurts when you sleep on that shoulder and when you have to use your arms a lot to do simple every day stuff like drive your car. Dear shots I have one word for you: LAME!

8 for 8

Dear Sam over at Simply Sam   tagged me in a lovely survey that's going around. She asked 8 questions, I answer them and then I get to ask 8 new questions and tag 8 more people. Lets hope that I can come up with 8 more questions and 8 people, and then we can get this show on the road! We'll start with my answers to her questions

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?
Everything! I love fall so much. Whenever I think of fall I just get excited. You know when you have big happy life events, your mind just seems to tie those things to the weather? I love fall because it reminds me of happy newlywededness. I love to watch the leaves change, and to crunch the leaves when I walk down the street. I love the cool mornings when I just need a light jacket, and the cool nights when you need a blanket to snuggle up on the couch. I love it because I get to pull out my yummy warm duvet that has been too hot to use since May. I just love the change that is in the atmosphere and people are reminded that the holidays are coming up so it just seems like people are happier.
2. What was the last movie you saw in theaters? Did you like it?
I think it was The Switch if I remember correctly, and I was so surprised by how much I liked it. Hal did not want to see this movie, but he is amazing and tagged along anyway, and even he was surprised that he liked it. It was cute, and who doesn't like Team Jenn and Jason Bateman, come on, have you ever even see Arrested Development? I now take notice when someone "makes love to their food" also known as going "mmmm" while you're eating. Plus, the little boy in this is SO cute.

3. Do you have any interesting family history? What is it? (distant relative of someone famous, a cute story about your grandparents, family heritage, etc)
Let see, nothing too amazing. My grandmother came over from Denmark with just her sister when she was I believe a teenager, and we still have the dress that she came over in. And I fit into it. Isn't that crazy? It's super heavy and thick and hot, but it's still in pretty good shape. Oh, umm, I'm related to William Faulkner.

4. If you were to write an autobiography, what would you title it?
I guess that would depend on why I'm having an autobiography written about me. I assume if I did something awesome the title would be some awesomely cheesy play on words about what I did. But if I had to do it based off of now, it would be something like: Stumbling Through Life :An awkward girl's journey to make the world smile. Something real cheesy like that, and just from that you can already know I'm awkward and clumsy. Now you already know the premise of the book.

5. What are you doing for Halloween this year and if you're dressing up, what are you going to dress up as?
Am I doing anything for Halloween? Ha, have you ever met me? Well, actually a lot of you haven't since this is a whole internet thing, but for your enlightenment. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Love it! I'm thinking an Arrested Development party. What do you think? Hal and I as George Sr. and Lucille? Awesome? i thought so too.

6. Who is your role model?
Hmm, my role model? That's kind of a hard one. Only one person? Well then, if I can only choose one, I'd have to say my mom. The most important thing to her was her family. I think that's a very commendable thing in today's society where a lot of people leave their family for what they assume will bring them personal happiness. She cared more about her kids than anything else in the world, and made sure that we all knew it. I hope that I can be like that. I hope that people in my life know I care so much about them.

7. What is one of your happiest memories?
Only one? Wow, this is getting harder. I'm going to be not too original and say my wedding day. How can your wedding day not be happy? Mine was, there were so many people that made sure to show Hal and I that they supported us and were happy for us. I am so appreciative of that. Of all the people who came out to help and to say hello. And also, getting to be sealed to my Mr. and to know that he's mine and I'm his is an amazing feeling that will stay with me always.

8. Describe yourself using the letters of your name! (ex. S-silly A-artistic M-music lover)
Now that's kind of funny because Sam wrote these questions, and we have the same name, so I guess that means I'll try and do this without using the same words, even though she totally stole my S answer.   S- Scotophilia         A- Awkward     M- Mulism
Question, when I google synonyms of silly because I'm stumped and stupid and simpleminded come up...how is that a synonym? Apparently someone doesn't like silly people. And when I google words that start with M why does mail order bride come up, what is wrong with these websites? But check out this awesome website  It's so cool. It has huge lists of unusual words for each letter of the alphabet. So go there to see what Scotophilia and Mulism mean. P.S. when you search Mulism...almost all of the websites are misspellings of Muslim.

And onto my list of questions. Woo!

1.If you could live anywhere in the entire world, where would you live?
2. What's the one accessory you can't leave the house without?
3. If someone gave you $5,000 what is the first thing you would do with it?
4.What is the one thing you're afraid of most?
5.  If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
6.What is the one TV show you can't miss?
7. Edward or Mr. Darcy?
8. What is your signature look?

And I tag
2. Jennifer at Crazy Shenanigans
3. Chloe at Sean and Chloe
4. Kellie at Kelleidoscope
 5. Julie at Boob Nazi
8. Mara at M Loves M

Please feel free to do the survey even if I didn't tag you. And let me know if you play a long just in case I miss your post!
