Firsts

Today is a day of firsts. Some big, and some small.

Today For the first time this happened to me. I didn't even really think this happened in real life. It's something that you see in the movies, right? Wrong.

There is a spot where I love to do this, but it's not a spot where people walk. And granted this picture may be a more dramatic version of what happened to me, but a car still splashed me and it was cold and wet. Boo. As I was backing up another car splashed me. Double boo.

It's snowing like mad outside. Yes, it is March 31st, the day before April begins. Yes, spring should be here, but alas it is snowing really hard, and has been all day. At least it isn't sticking like it does during the winter months. I guess I can't be too upset as this is Utah, and this is a part of living here. I wouldn't be surprised if it snowed again before May. I remember once it snowed in June.

Today for the first time that I can remember I slammed a drawer shut on my finger, but on the fingernail part. I can't remember ever hitting it quite like this. My thumb still hurts. What the heck, drawer?

Today for the first time I did something really cool. I know you're thinking 'today is the first time you've done something cool?' But this is cooler than cool, it's awesome. Today Hal and I submitted our Peace Corps applications. See, I told you it's cool. We're really excited, and we have no idea what exactly will come of this, if anything, but we're excited nonetheless. We applied to go anywhere, but if we had our choice we would go to Morocco.

Alright, those might be my only firsts that I can think of today.

Hal and I are home from Colorado, and we had a blast. I have some awesome pictures to share. Just think....giraffes.

We Were Sought Out

Hal and I were sought out. Literally. Not even like stalked and someone followed us home. Someone sneaked around until they found the right place and sought us out. They apparently set their plan into motion around 6:30 on Sunday morning. They attacked.

Well, not literally attacked. I slowly woke up to a noise on Sunday morning. The more I woke up I started to realize what it actually was. Hal thought it was the landlord's baby which sometimes wakes us up, but the more I listened I realized it wasn't that. It was...a cat. Not our cat. It was another cat. Outside our window. Meowing. Well, not even really meowing, more like yowling. It sounded like a cat in heat. If you have ever heard a cat in heat...you know it's one of the worst/most annoying sounds in the entire world.

Our kitty is so sweet to people...most of the time. But she hates other cats. Hates them. Remember this post? Yeah, it's kind of lame, but not really a big deal since she isn't around other cats anymore.

So back to the story, we sat there listening to this cat and it wouldn't stop. Then I thought, wait, what if it's a big burly man outside making cat noises to lure us out there. Which of course freaked both Hal and I out. He turned on the light and Ebony was leaning up against the dresser to make herself taller and staring at one of the windows. Her tail was huge. I love it when kitties get freaked out and their tales go puffy. So since I freaked Hal out, he went outside with his pistol. Haha, I'm talking for real here people. He went outside and saw the kitty and chased it from our window. It wasn't a big burly man, thank goodness. We went back to sleep in peace.

Yesterday Hal got home from school early, even before I got home from work. He had left the door open for some extra light and fresh air. Apparently the crazy kitty must feel it's in love with our kitty's scent and came back for a second try. Sorry to tell you kitty, but our kitty will be much more mean than we will be to you. She even got in a fight with an orange tabby cat that used to hang around the house last summer.

The kitty came and sat on the ledge by our door. Uh-oh, our kitty was standing right at the door. Hal said our kitty was making so much noise hissing and yelling at it that he finally had to close the door. When I got home she was sitting right by the front door and her tail was still huge. Haha, good work freaking out our kitty stalker cat.

I have been rearranging and changing my blog, so sorry if things are different and keep changing for a while. Hal and I are headed to Colorado this weekend so also sorry if I am away from the blogging scene for a few days.

1.5

Today is one and a half years! woo! Since Hal is gone snowboarding with his brother for the day I'd figure I would take the time to be super lazy and do nothing other than make this post. I actually had every intention to clean, but weird, that hasn't happened yet. Oh well. It's a special day so Hal can't get mad at me. haha.

So in honor of this day I will finally get around to posting our one year anniversary pictures, because it was so much fun. Get ready for the picture overload.
Hal and I went to the Utah State Fair during the day. It was the first time I have ever been there. My sister and her family met us there so we went around the fair with them. It had a lot of fun. The animals were definitely my favorite part. It was pretty hot that day, but luckily it wasn't unbearable like it can often be during the summer.

We saw the craziest thing there. They had a steer that was over 5'5" tall. It was crazy crazy huge so we had to get some pictures with it. I was surpised that it was so calm with all of the people around it taking pictures.

Isn't my niece so stinkin cute? Seriously, my sister has the cutest kids. She was scared to be up on his shoulders and wanted down right after this.
After we left the fair we went and changed my my friend Christine's house and her and her husband took some pictures of us in our wedding clothes at temple square. I totally got up on this statue all by myself in my dess, and then Hal and to copy me and climbed up on the other statue. As he was helping me down we ran into one of my friends from High School, Kim. They just happend to be downtown for the symphony and walked past us as we were being silly.
We rode off into the sunset in a carriage. Actually, the sun did set as we rode around temple square in a carriage. I had always wanted to go on a ride, and it was totally awesome.
We finally made our way to Stein Erikson in Park City. That is where we went the weekend we got married. Steins is serously magic in September. It's beautiful up there and the lodge is super duper fancy.
I finally did it! Just 6 months late, but better late than never, right? I figured that we had too much fun and Park City was too beautiful not to post about it. Looking at these make me long for Spring. Hopefully it comes soon.
We're going to a st. patty's day party tonight and I'm excited because I couldn't celebrate on the 17th because I had a final interview the next morning. I'll know on Monday if I got it or not. So send good vibes my way!

Fill in the Blank Friday

I have always wanted to play along with this, but I am not usually online on Fridays since it's my day off, but I am waiting for Hal to come back with the Chinese food so we can have a picnic in the front room and watch a movie he got for me to have a low key early celebration. Stop by Lauren's blog The little things we do for more Fill in the Blank Friday. soo, here we go with

Fill In The Blank Friday

1. Today I am wearing stripey blue and white long sleeved shirt with my favorite dark blue jeans, and my cute brown polo shoes

2. My favorite childhood food was chicken nuggets and my favorite food now is this is a hard one. I really LOVE (sorry, wasn't meant to be all caps, but my cat just rested her head on the computer and hit the tab and the caps button, haha) I love mashed potatoes, or really potatoes in any form.

3. A day that I am too busy to read a book is a day that I am too busy.

4. The last movie I saw was Valentine's Day and the next movie I want to see is Coco before Chanel. I'm so stoked. Hal knew I really wanted to see it, so he got it for us to watch tonight. I'll let you know how it is..

5. My favorite smell is The way outside smells after rain because, It just has such a distinct clean lovely smell. It makes me happy .

6. A weird little quirk I have is I won't use a public restroom unless I'm about to die. I'm really good at holding it, and even though it's bad for you I will hold it over using a public restroom. .

7. When I take personality quizzes they always say I'm that depends on what kind of personality test. the serious ones I'm an ENFJ, thats extrovert, intuative feeling, judging, but if we're talking silly little ones they'll tell my because of my hair length and what not I'm cute .

Well, that's it. Look for my anniversary post up tomorrow. woo woo.

Yep, he's a creeper.

I have a story for you. I read this post on the Boob Nazi's blog and it reminded me that I forgot to post about this.

Last week I went to JoAnn's after work with some friends because we needed to get more supplies to help with a fundraiser that is using our Piccadilly Pear headbands. We we looking around the store and blasted, they didn't have the right kind of elastic. Ugh, they never do. Seriously, we even called around to JoAnn's and none of them had it in stock. Umm, hello, aren't you supposed to get shipments in every Monday? Then why are you constantly out?

Well, we grabbed the next best thing and waited for 18 million years at the cut out counter. Seriously, we counted and the ladies in front of us were getting over 20 fabrics cut and one of them kept going to get more. For real lady? They had one person working the counter. Dumb. So we wandered around the store getting a few things while we waited.

My two friends walked down an aisle while I was looking in the remnants bin. Let me paint a picture for you. Two guys come walking towards me. I don't even know what the other one looked like because of what happened next. So. This guy who is wearing a blue shirt that is like 4 times too big for him and is down to his knees and baggy jeans and has dreadlocks that aren't all the way dread-locked yet (seriously, dreadlocks are the worst, but that's another story) He just oozed yuckiness. He comes walking past me and looks me up and down and says in the most disgusting tone "hey, how you doin" Like worse than Joey on Friends. Much worse.

I gave him the dirtiest look ever. Not even intentionally, It was more a look of disgust and surprise because I could not even believe someone was saying that to me at JoAnns. Come on, it's a craft store. Are guys even allowed in there? He even was walking to the side where he could totally see my wedding ring. That's why it's there. It says I'm married, don't even think about it.

Best part? Right after that a lady walked past me and say "Yikes" hehe. I laughed and said "I know, right?" Pretty sure the guys heard us.

When I told Hal about this he said he felt bad for the guy because of the look that I re-created for him. Seriously? Seriously? You feel bad for the guy who just hit on your wife because I gave him a dirty look? There is something not right about this.

I just don't understand. Hal and my brother in law have said they feel bad for him because it takes a lot of courage to go up to a girl and say something. Umm, pretty sure it wasn't courage that made him talk to me. And it's totally different to go talk to a girl in a social situation...but blatantly hitting on someone in a craft store? That's just wrong. I don't understand where guys get off thinking that it's ok to talk to a girl like that. It's not ok. Don't do it.

Daylight Savings is the devil

Daylight Savings...who ever thought of you? Who decided that they would be your best friend in the fall but a total jerk in the spring? That's not very nice, or very reliable. Seriously...come fall they're all hey, you wanna get an extra hour of sleep? You want to go to bed at a normal time and then get to sleep in even more? I would only do it because I know sleeping in is your favorite thing.

And I think hey, you're right, sleeping in is my favorite thing, thanks pal!

Then they go all flipsy on you and are like we're in a fight and because of that I'm going to make you spring forward an hour in the middle of the night when you're sleeping and not aware of it. Then you have to get up early, which is your least favorite thing. Muahaha! And then to make it worse you're not going to be tired, even though it's midnight because your body thinks it's only 11 and you had to take a 3 hour nap because you had to get up an hour earlier than normal. So you're going to be up super late, but you're still going to have to get up at 7...but you're body will think it's 6 so you'll grumpy and tired in the morning.

And I will think hey, you're a jerk, you're right, we will be in a fight until I can get used to this and it becomes warm and I forget about it. Then we'll make up and be friends because you'll be nice in the fall. Sigh, why can't we push our clocks back twice a year? Now that would be sweet.

Alright, that may have made no sense, I'll blog about something else.
Go. Go now. Go check out this stinkin' amazing giveaway. Seriously, I don't usually blog about other giveaways, but this is the coolest one I've ever seen...and I wanna win it.

Who do they think they are?

I may have literally ran right into a pole today. Alright, I full on ran into it, like hardcore. After putting staff lunch into my car, I turned to walk around the other side of my car and I didn't expect a big pole with a sign that says freight parking to be that close. I may already have a bruise forming on my knee. And I may have said that just for sympathy. But seriously, I run into poles right next to me and my husband keeps trying to convince me to go snowboarding...What, is he trying to kill me off or something?

My blog may be a little neglected this week. Life all the sudden went and and become umm...how do I put this...mega crazy. Seriously, I haven't been this crazy busy in a long time. I almost didn't have enough time to blog this, but I made time, because I love you guys. Haha, really, I was just sitting for the receptionist, and had time. Or, really it's both.

I had a pretty interesting phone call last night. I had a mini phone interview for a job I applied for on Saturday. She called me at like 8:30 p.m. though. Weird. She said they would contact me by e-mail to set up an interview if I made the second cut. They e-mailed me this morning. I thought, man they aren't wasting time with this. Oh...wait a second. The interviews are tomorrow.

There are only 4 different time slots. wth? Who do they think they are? Do they just think that I'll drop everything to have an interview with them? Well, if they think that they may be right...because I scheduled an interview. Good thing another person will be here at work tomorrow so it isn't a big deal if I leave for 45 minutes. But really...who do they think they are? Someone who wants to pay me more and offer me benefits? Lets hope so, because they were pretty forward with this whole interview stuff.

I've had a post planned for a while, but seriously, this week is so crazy that I haven't been on computer in so long to upload the pictures to do the post. It may happen tonight while I am babysitting my nephews. Lets hope. But don't hope too hard because well, you got this post today and there is a chance it may not happen.

Hopefully blogging will resume next week. It's our 1 1/2 anniversary next Saturday. I think that's pretty exciting....and since I never posted about our anniversary except for this, I figured I could do it just 6 months late. Maybe really, it's almost Chloe's anniversary, and she got married almost exactly 6 months after me, and her husband will be gone for their anniversary, so she posted early about her one year, so it made me want to post about my one year. Sorry if that steals your thunder. Maybe it could add to the thunder of it? Actually, Mara just posted about her anniversary too...hmm, maybe there is a trend going on right now. Either way, Hal and I like to celebrate things, and since we need an excuse beat the statistics and passed a year, why not celebrate again?!

Giveaway winner announced

Alright, it is finally midnight and now that Burn Notice is over it's time to announce the winner of our PiccadillyPear giveaway!

I'm not super good at the whole technology thing to embed the image from random.org, so I'll just go ahead and tell you.

Lucky #8 is the winner of the custom headband from our shop where they pick a flower and pick a headband style, thus designing their own headband!

By my calculations Lucky #8 is Selma over at Crazy Little World of Mine. I love Selma's blog, so I am so excited that she won!

Selma, please e-mail me and let me know what you would like from our shop.

And for those of you who didn't win, feel free to buy ;) haha, that may have been quite advantageous of me. Anywho, we have some other products planned for the shop, so check back every once in a while.

Thanks guys for participating in the giveaway, and letting me promote my new little adventure.

Wisdom Teeth can die

After reading the title of this post maybe you can understand a little about how much I think wisdom teeth suck.

I did an investigational study to get my wisdom teeth out because, why pay for it when someone wants to pay you for it, right? I wasn't too scared about the investigational part seeing as it was for a drug with the active ingredient being Tylenol (well, not Tylenol, I just didn't know how to spell acetaminophen, but look, spell check did.)

Instead, I was worried about the death part. Not really, but I was afraid it was going to hurt, and so I would end up dead. Well, it's been a few days and I am back at work and wahoo, I'm not dead. That's a relief.

I had to stay at the research place for 12 hours after surgery. All four teeth were out in like 15 minutes. I'll spare you the details about the surgery, because it hurt, and that was the worst part. But man, 12 hours after 15 minutes of surgery... Man, it was bo-ring. I couldn't have my phone with me so I just watched Persuasion, Cranford, and North & South to entertain me. Thanks to my sister for letting me borrow them. Nice to know now I could have totally snuck my phone in. P.S. if you want the drugs, say you're a 7 right away. Otherwise you'll become un-numb at the same time as 3 other people and end up being the last one to get it. I was starving, because I couldn't have food until 3 p.m....but by the time 3 rolled around I was kind of out of it and not very hungry anymore, funny how that works out.

They finally let me go around 5, I had my vitals checked and I packed up, but she said my ride wasn't here yet. I was bumbed and maybe wanted to beat someone Hal up, because I was ready to get the heck out of there. I went potty while I waited and I went back into my room to wait. When I opened the door I seriously almost thought I was in the wrong room because someone was in there. It was Hal. He brought me flowers. :) They were pretty. His mom hid in a doorway so I wouldn't see her when I came out of the bathroom.

The people that worked there were so funny. I kept hearing my CNA randomly break out into song in the halls. Sometimes he would randomly sing while he was helping change my gauze. They were apparently stoked when Hal asked if he could go in my room and surprise me that like 5 guys walked him the 10 feet from the nurses station to my room.

Since they pushed my day up Hal's mom was still in town to help take care of me. It was hard to talk until I put some ice on my face. Then I felt loads better. She spent all day making me homemade white, and cinnamon bread, and homemade chicken noodle soup. Some of my favorite things. I couldn't eat them. Because I couldn't chew. Sad.

I've been healing pretty well; besides a little bit of nausea and dizziness that made me go off all meds (except for homeopathics) My mouth is sore and feels kind of bruised, and I still can't open my mouth very wide, but I'm sure it will pass soon. My hand eye coordination which wasn't good to start with hasn't quite returned either, so lets hope is comes back soon, too.

It's so nice to see that people really care about you and make an effort to bring you things and keep you company. My friends came to visit on Saturday after Hal's parents were over on Friday. It hurt so hard to laugh and move my mouth like that, but it was so hard not too. I had fun. It makes me feel very blessed.

OH!, and don't forget about the GIVEAWAY, you have 2 more days to enter!
